JEE Main 2026 Marks vs Percentile vs Rank
NTA uses session normalization to convert raw marks into percentile scores across multiple shifts. Your percentile reflects how many candidates scored at or below your level in that session. The table below maps every 5-mark interval to estimated percentile and All India Rank based on calibrated NTA 2025 anchor data with ~15.5 lakh total candidates for 2026.
What Does My Marks Mean?
100 Marks — Entry-Level NIT Territory
Scoring 100 puts you around the 96th percentile and an AIR near 62,000. This is enough to access lower-tier NITs and GFTIs in non-CSE branches, depending on your state home quota. With OBC/SC/ST reservation, your effective rank improves significantly.
150 Marks — Solid NIT Performance
At 150 marks (~98.98 percentile, AIR ~15,700) you enter solid NIT territory. Top NITs like Trichy, Warangal, and Surathkal become accessible in non-CS branches. JEE Advanced is not typically cleared at this score for General category (cutoff ~93.10%).
200 Marks — JEE Advanced Eligible (General)
200 marks (~99.78 percentile, AIR ~3,400) comfortably clears the JEE Advanced General cutoff of 93.10%. At this level you can target NIT Trichy/Warangal CSE (borderline), BITS Pilani (through BITSAT), and newer IIT branches through JEE Advanced.
240 Marks — Strong IIT Candidate
240 marks (~99.956 percentile, AIR ~680) places you firmly in IIT territory through JEE Advanced. Expect access to IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati, IIT BHU CSE, and non-CS branches at IIT Delhi/Bombay. Preparation for JEE Advanced is now the priority.
280 Marks — Top 500 Territory
280 marks (~99.996 percentile, AIR ~62) is exceptional performance. You are in contention for IIT Bombay CSE (closes ~AIR 66) and IIT Delhi CSE (~AIR 116). Only 24 candidates scored 100 percentile in JEE Main 2025 — 280+ puts you among the very best.
