How does NTA convert JEE Main marks to percentile?

NTA uses a normalization formula that converts raw marks to a percentile score based on the relative performance of all candidates in a session. The percentile represents the percentage of candidates who scored equal to or less than you. Scores are normalized across shifts to account for varying difficulty levels.

What is the relationship between JEE Main percentile and All India Rank?

Your estimated AIR = ceil((100 - percentile) / 100 × total candidates). For JEE Main 2026 with ~15.5 lakh candidates, a 99 percentile corresponds to approximately AIR 15,500. The higher your percentile, the lower (better) your rank.

What percentile is needed for JEE Advanced 2026?

Based on 2025 data, the JEE Advanced cutoff for General category was 93.10 percentile (approximately AIR 1,07,000). OBC-NCL cutoff was 79.43 percentile, SC was 61.15 percentile, and ST was 47.90 percentile. These cutoffs may vary slightly for 2026.

100 Marks — Entry-Level NIT Territory

150 Marks — Solid NIT Performance
